Whenever analysis of truss is done it is important to know the total no. of members .Hence it is classified into two types of frames one is perfect and another is imperfect frame .By knowing the type of frame we can analyze the truss based on the no. of members present.

(a)   Perfect Frames :- Simplest perfect frame is a triangular assemblage of three member AB, BC, CA meeting at joints B, C and A.

(b)   Imperfect Frames :- (a) When the numbers are less than that required by equation m = 2j – 3 then frame is called imperfect or deficient frame. Such frame, cannot resist geometrical distortion under the action of loads.

Perfect frames are the feames which stable under load upon it and from different directions.

Imperfect frames are the which cannot be analysed.

Perfect frames:-the number of members is equal to number of joints.there is no change in the frame when loaded.

Imperfect frames:-the number of members is not equal to number of joints.there is change in shape of a frame when loaded.

Perfect frames:-

The no.of members is equal to number of joints and there is no change in the shape of a frame when loaded. Is called perfect frames.

Imperfect frames:-

The no of members is not equal to number of joints and there is change in the shape of the frame when loaded .is called imperfect frames.
